Goals of Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation

  • Ignite interest in the study of inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) by researchers, physicians, educators, scientists, and others.
  • Drive and support work to reach an unambiguous definition of inflammatory breast cancer. The clinical/pathological definition, first developed in the late 1800s, is ambiguous. Twenty-first century research methods now allow an unambiguous definition.
  • Increase awareness of inflammatory breast cancer for primary care physicians, nursing professionals, and medical technicians in order to minimize the time from diagnosis to treatment of inflammatory breast cancer .
  • Broaden public awareness of inflammatory breast cancer to encourage people to seek medical attention for common inflammatory breast cancer symptoms as soon as possible.
